2026 Lawyer Well-Being Week

Lawyer Well-Being Week is part of a broader initiative that grew out of a 2016 American Bar Association report on lawyer well-being, which led to the creation of a dedicated week to promote healthier, more sustainable legal careers. Its timing alongside Canada’s Mental Health Week offers a meaningful opportunity to focus on wellness in our profession.

The report defined Lawyer Well-Being as the ongoing pursuit of balance and fulfillment across emotional, professional, intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social aspects of life.

Throughout Lawyer Well-Being Week, Assist programming will offer opportunities to explore key dimensions of well-being and build skills to thrive. Sessions include Monday’s Red Mug Coffee Circle (Social), Tuesday’s Mindfulness Session (Spiritual/Emotional), and Wednesday’s virtual and in-person yoga (Physical). On Thursday, Dr. Forbes will lead a session on Psychological First Aid (Social, Emotional, Occupational, and Intellectual), and on Friday, the community is invited to join a casual outdoor walk at noon (Physical/Social).

In addition to Assist programming, CBA Alberta will host sessions throughout the week on topics ranging from the power of presence to AI in Lawyering. See the week-long schedule of events below.

Join us for Lawyer Well-Being Week and take time to invest in your personal growth - so you can flourish and thrive in your career.
